Corrado (Vincenzo) Il Credenziere di Buon Gusto, first edition, engraved portrait frontispiece, title and woodcut printer's device within woodcut decorative border, engraved folding plate of a desert table, 12pp. 18th century (?part work) 'Brieve e nuovo modo da sarsi ogni sorte di Sorbette con facilta' bound in at p.15, 8pp. 18th century manuscript 'Addizioni al Credenziere' bound in at end (paginated 66-73), folding plate trimmed at outer margin, just within border, water-stained, some spotting, lightly browned, later vellum, edges repaired with fragments of vellum and tape, [B.IN.G 546; Bitting p.101; Cagle 1127; Paleari Henssler p.202; Westbury p.57, B.[1]], 4to, Naples, House of Raimondi, 1778.
⁂ Rare at auction. Corrado (1736-1836) was the first to write on what we today think of as 'Mediterranean Cuisine'. He was encouraged to do so by the Prince of Francavilla, for whom he acted as 'Capo dei Servizi di Bocca'.
