**First Time At Auction**
Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, United States or Canada, Tlingit or Haida people, ca. late 19th century CE. An amulet in the shape of 2 zoomorphic heads facing away from each other with in a characteristic stylized form. The heads likely represent a wolf, sea lion, or other spirit animal, their mouths slightly open displaying teeth. Shamans wore protective pendants or amulets tucked into their clothing, such as this piece, which were imbued with power from sacred animals and ancestral emblems, and the charm would hold and protect an ill person's soul when used in healing ceremonies. Size: 3" L x 1" W (7.6 cm x 2.5 cm)

Natural bone pitting and striations to heads, otherwise intact and very good. Dark patina throughout.
