A Chinese blue-ground dragon robe dating from the early 19th century. It features eight dragons, all on the exterior panels. The dragons chase flaming pearls among ruyi clouds, flowers, bats, and the eight precious objects over a wave and rock motif with the eight Buddhist emblems. They are flanked on the lower front panel by guardian lions. The embroidery features the forbidden stitch.

Dimensions are: 52 inches tall X 88 inches wide, 132.1 cm X 223.5 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: There is splitting and wear along with loose threads and thread loss. There is damage to the button loops.
