Description
Mary Kirk Kelly Ceramic Asparagus Covered Bowl and Serving Dish
includes a covered asparagus bowl signed to interior with date 1985 and edition number 8 of 20, and an asparagus serving dish signed to underside and dated 2003.
Bowl 6 1/2 x 9 x 7 in.; Dish 2 x 8 1/2 x 9 in.
Mary Kirk Kelly was born in Axis, Alabama in 1918. Her father owned a brick yard which used local clays, so it was quite fitting that Kelly would turn to ceramics after retiring as a teacher. She began first with the standard plates and mugs, but found her true calling after a neighbor asked her to make a replica of a prized cabbage he'd grown.
