RPM French pressing album of Edith Piaf’s live performance at L’Olympia in Paris on 29 December 1960. Rubbing. SIGNED ON BACK COVER BY EDITH PIAF. Edith Piaf’s singing career began in 1935 Paris when nightclub owner Louis Leplee persuaded her to take the stage of his nightclub, Le Gerny’s. It was Leplee who gave her the nickname La Mome Piaf, meaning “Little Sparrow.” Taking her under his wing Leplee taught her how to magnify her stage presence and helped develop her iconic look.
