African Dan Mau Gio Mask, Liberia, 19th C. Previous Collection: Van Bussel, Amsterdam. This surreal dance mask is an exceptional example of Liberian art. Both human and animal are morphed together to form a very powerful image. The patina is encrusted from years of exposure and use. This mask has never been altered or cleaned in any way. Size: 27'' x 8'' x 6'' (69 x 20 x 15 cm).
