The British Museum holds a copy of the same dimensions and assigns a date of 1852. "The watercolour was first exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, London in 1850 (no.193) as 'Caxton reading the first proof-sheet from his printing press in Westminster Abbey, March 1474'." - British Museum. A magnificent illustration, rare in commerce.
Condition
Lower right corner chipped with some small edgewear and tear, puncture in right margin (none of the above affecting image); some sunning to image, light foxing; very good.
