Immagine calc. con due medaglioni: nell'inferiore una palma vicina all'acqua, nell'inferiore ritratto calcogr. del traduttore in un medaglione, con sottoscrizione: j. f. sc. nel primo volume. Alcune pagine con foxing nel primo volume, leggerissimo in poche pagine del secondo. Buon esemplare.Elegante edizione settecentesca. L’opera è incentrata sulla figura del celebre medico romano vissuto durante l’impero di Augusto e Tiberio. Come medico sperimentò tecniche e operazioni in ambito medico e chirurgico. Profondo conoscitore di Ippocrate ebbe sicuramente contatti con la medicina alessandrina e con alcuni medici greci trasferiti a Roma.

2 vols. 16mo, 166x105 mm; contemporary full vellum binding, title written on the spine, sprayed edges. Woodcut vignette on title pages. On the first volume, engraving image with two medallions: in the bottom a palm close to the water, in the lower portrait of the translator in a medallion, with subscription: "j. f. sc.".Some pages with foxing in the first volume, very light in a few pages of the second. Good specimen.
Elegant eighteenth century edition. The work focuses on the figure of the famous Roman doctor who lived during the empire of Augustus and Tiberius. As a physician he experimented with techniques and operations in the medical and surgical fields. Deep acquaintance of Hippocrates certainly had contact with Alexandria medicine and with some Greek doctors transferred to Rome.
