Description
Three (3) Antique French Landscape Etchings by Henri Jourdain (1864-1931). All professionally framed and matted. In framed each 10 1/2"x13"x1". Weight on all combined 4 pds 12 oz. At the end of the nineteenth century, Jourdain, as an aspiring artist, took part in art exhibitions in Paris with paintings and sculptures. His work was significantly influenced by Pablo Picasso, Ricardo Opisso and Maria Dolores, whom he met when they came to Paris from Barcelona. Probably his most important acquaintance from this period is Georges Petit, philanthropist and admirer of Impressionism, who regularly commissioned him over the next twenty years. In the late 1920s, Jourdain was commissioned by the Paris Etching Society, which existed from 1928 to 1950, founded by the American Sidney Z. Lucas in search of talented etchers.
