Expertise by Dr. Francesca Dini, the painting "Giovane donna che fuma (studio)" is an authentic and valuable artwork by Vito D'Ancona.
PROVENANCE: It belonged to Giovanni Arcangeli (1848-1921) who, in 1878, was aggregated to the the Institute of Advanced Studies in botany in Florence and from 1881 was full professor of botany at the University of Pisa. He founded the Italian Botanical Society with Cesare D'Ancona, painter's brother, and shared an interest in palaeontological research with D'Ancona. Subsequently, the painting belonged to Professor Mario Arcangeli, Giovanni Arcangeli Puntoni, Lorenza Arcangeli Sicca and by descent to the current owners. In 2019, it underwent a diagnostic examination at the Department of Civilisation and Forms of Knowledge at the University of Pisa.
Excellent conditions, slight restoration applied recently
