Butterfly table, American, 17th C., constructed from early elements, maple base, birch top, example of a type of table which originated in Connecticut, so called because the supports of the drop leaves were cut in the form of a butterfly's wing, peg construction, wood burned inscription "S.B. Case" on bottom, wear consistent with age, including splits in wood, warping, cracks and chips, feet replaced/ extended, 26" h. x 38" w. x 17" d.
