Publisher:La Prensa
Date Published: June, 1957
Description:
CGC certified: VG+ (4.5). Light tan to off-white pages. Mexican version of Haunted Thrills #17 (Ajax-Farrell, 1954). Color interior. Stories translated into Spanish. Cover and art by uncredited Iger Studio talent. CGC Census: This is the only graded copy.
A brunette babe balks as Death bum-rushes her hideaway. The original caption as published in Ajax-Farrell's Haunted Thrills #17 reads: "No — no! Go away! You promised me more time!" The test tubes, volumetric flasks and whatnot in the background of her pad suggest that she's been conducting experiments, possibly in an effort to prolong her limited lifespan. Moribund American horror mags managed to extend their shelf life by crossing over to Mexico (and, to a lesser extent, Brazil). There's scant documentation of how it all worked, but the quality of reproduction in La Prensa's horror reprints makes it likely that Ajax-Farrell sold the company their printing plates before giving up the ghost.
