North India, Punjab Hills, Kangra.Gouache heightened with gold on paper. 48 by 34 cm.CATALOGUE NOTEMaharaja Sher Singh (1807-1843) is depicted seated against a green colored bolster. He is sitting in the middle and in front of him are dancers and musicians. His courtiers sit beside him. At the back of the Maharaja are four men. Who are servants and guards. The Maharaja is heavily jewelled, holding a sword in his left hand and a necklace in his right hand. Which he offers as a gift to the dancer.
