DESCRIPTION: "Landscape with River and Trees". Harvey Joiner (American, 1852-1932). Oil on board. Signed lower left. In carved gilt painted wood frame. Artist's name on plaque to bottom center of frame. Born in Charlestown, Indiana, Harvey Joiner began sketching scenes of African-Americans on the Mississippi River Boats at age 16. By 1880 he had established a studio in Louisville, Kentucky where he specialized in scenes of Kentucky Beech woods. MEASUREMENTS: 5-1/2" high x 13-1/2" wide; frame 4-1/4" wide.
