Australian Aboriginal Tiwi Figure, Purukapali figure, attributed to Mani-Luki (Harry Carpenter) Wommatakimmi, (c.1914-80), inscribed in pen on the bottom, Purukapali by Deaf Tommy, probably after a bark painting by Deaf Tommy Mungatopi, the torso carved from one block of wood, the face with brow and nose defined as a T, painted black and white with line and dot decorations, mounted on metal stand, (age crack), ht. 18 in.
