Description
Uncommon Amish Four Patch Bowtie Variation Friendship quilt, Holmes County, Ohio, circa 1920-1930, with embroidered initials in many of the pieced blocks and lavender inner border, cotton and black cotton sateen. Small tear to top, some fading to lavender, minor discoloration and small tear to backing. 82''h, 70''w. Provenance: Estate of Laura Fisher, New York, NY. Catalog note: The many embroidered initials suggest ''these were family or friends who contributed to the completed quilt, perhaps as a wedding gift. The pattern is an uncommon find, in that it incorporated Bowtie blocks that are set on point and in rotation to surround a circle motif at each group's center. Classic Holmes County Ohio Amish attributes.'' - Laura Fisher
