A group of 4 brass stamp plates used for embossing leather with the Walt Disney version of the American frontiersman Davy Crockett and a decorative scrolling motif. The 3 plates with Crockett depict him in a coonskin cap, his name, and "Walt Disney"- two plates have the slogan "Indian Fighter" and the larger plate has a Native American teepee village in the background. Crockett was a real figure (1786 to 1836), embellished and glamorized in the Disney adaptation of his life portrayed by actor Fess Parker as a militia soldier, frontiersman, and politician. Fans could purchase memorabilia such as wallets, belts, and other leather items stamped with this "American folk hero" while humming the catchy "Ballard of Davy Crockett" theme song.
