Description
Very fine inro and netsuke. The inro has 4 compartments decorated with gold and brown shaded lacquer and depicting a village landscape on the bank of a lake, the interior of the inro is made in delicate Nashiji technique, Edo period 18th century, the Ojime is made of metal alloy in delicate crafting of Japanese motifs. The netsuke is made in very delicate and precise carving and engraving in wood and black horn, and depicts a bird pecking a persimmon fruit. The eyes are set with an inlaying of black horn, beginning of 19th century, flaws and abrasion to the inro typical of the item's age. The item was in a large private German collection. Dimensions: Inro: 7 cm, Netsuke: 2.7 cm.
