Description
Pair of 19th century Aqua tinted lithographs of the royal palace in Madrid, and the leaning tower of Pisa. The Madrid palace courtyard lithograph reads "Prospectus Regii Palatii Catolici Regis Hispanorum Matriti" and "Viie du' Palais Royal de sa Majeste 'Catholique le Roy d'Espagne, a Madrid," which translates to "View of the Royal Catholic Palace of the King of Spaniards in Madrid" and "Life of the Royal Palace of His Catholic Majesty the King of Spain in Madrid." Bottom left is pencil signed illegibly next to "Aa 3" and more pencil markings can be seen top left. Titled "Vue du Dome at de la Tour de Pise" which translates to "View of the dome and the Tower of Pisa" depicts the Cathedral and the leaning bell tower topped with a spire. Beneath the title is an explanation of its' tilt and beneath that, inked in is a further description of the building process. The top right corner is numbered 142.Both excellent condition. Both artworks measure 17" x 11.5", frames measure 25.5" x 20.5".
