Cook, (4), engraved frontis Ruins of the Old Bank of Pittsburgh, Map of Pittsburgh and Vicinity Designating the Portion Destroyed by Fire by R.E. McGowin (here erroneously credited as McGowan) and engraved by W. Gillespie, 52 pp., ads in rear, hardcover, slim 8vo., in later 3/4 red morocco with cloth boards, gilt title, raised bands, original front wrap present, bookplate of John Needles Chester (founded the company of Chester and Fleming Engineers in Pittsburgh) affixed to front pastedown, former owner's gift inscription on front blank from John McAllister Jr Esq to J. Elliott. Quite rare, with no copies currently on the market and only 11 located by OCLC.
Condition
In good condition, with light wear to the binding; foredge just slightly trimmed, affecting the very top of the plate mark of the map.
