Description
A Carved wooden mask with classic facial features, incised linear designs, remnants of kaolin clay pigments and a raffia grass beard. Such masks were used as clam emblems of the Bwami society, lega peoples, DRC/ Congo, central Africa. The mask measures 7.5 x 3 inches ( 13 inches tall on custom display stand and adding the beard length.) Provenance: Ex. Leonard Kahan Gallery, NY; Ex. McConnell Collection, VA
