A Framed Letter from Louis XVIII King of France, Dated 22 January, 1809.
Louis XVIII was in exile during the period of the First French Empire. This letter was written while Louis was living at Gosfield Hall in Essex. It includes references to Antoine de Bésiade, the Duke of Avaray and Pierre Casimir, the Duke of Blacas.
Together with a letter and a postcard from Alain Nicolas.
Framed dimensions: H:13 3/4 x W: 12 1/8 x D: 5/8 in.
Purchased 1990 from Alain Nicolas, the respected French autographs and manuscripts dealer in Paris.
