This framed piece includes a letter to the right and a print of William Thackery to the left. The letter is hand written, signed, and set within the preservation board. It reads: 36 Ouslow Sq., "Dear Lady Holland, I have only just returned (?) from Oxford, and found your kind invitation. I wish I had been here to accept it, and to say my best wishes(?) to you & Lord Holland on a very early day. Very faithfully yours always, William Thackeray" The novelist William Makepeace Thackeray lived at 36 Onslow Square from 1853 to 1860. Here he wrote the last part of The Newcomes, the Lectures on the Four Georges, The Virginians, and some of The Adventures of Philip and The Roundabout Papers. Onslow Square is a garden square in South Kensington, London, England.
