Description
GEORGE FORSS (1941 – 2021), "QE 2 IN NEW YORK 1977" WORLD TRADE CENTER. 10 x 13 ½ inch gelatin silver print, signed with title and signature on the mount and lightly on the verso. His work and life are extensively presented in a NY TIMES obituary that is available in the internet. He was peddling his photographs on the streets of NY when he was “discovered” by David Douglas Duncan, who devoted a book to him in 1984. His work was admired by Cartier-Bresson, Gordon Parks, Ansel Adams and Norman Mailer. The title refers to the ocean liner that was photographed as it passed the skyscraper when there was no hint of its subsequent catastrophic destruction. Probably printed later.
