Condition is consistent with age. The painting has craquelure throughout the entire painting. There is a small puncture visible at the top of the painting, just above the girls head. The canvas is slightly protruding here and has lost two flecks of paint. There is another area of paint loss in the background of painting, approximately 1/16 of an inch in side on the proper left side. The painting needs to be readjusted within frame and has visible signs of wear on paint and canvas around border due to rubbing of frame. Under black light there are several areas of in-painting visible, specifically in the face, hair, and body of the child. Some areas of in-painting are also visible in background of painting. It seems that the painting may have been cut down at one point and has since been re-attached to stretcher by re-lining the borders with a new canvas. It does not seem like the entire canvas was relined, as it still feels quite thin (as though there is only one layer of canvas) and the age and craquelure shows through the back. Additionally, there is the original stamp and inscription en verso. There is loss to frame molding on bottom left and middle, as well as a loose scroll molding on the proper right side.
