Description
Oil on canvas painting in the manner of Fidelia Bridges (American, 1834 - 1923), the well-known American Pre-Raphaelite painter of flowers and birds. American, ca. late 19th - early 20th century (Victorian). Painting is large and unsigned, showing two monarch butterflies flying around goldenrods, dandelions, daisies, and other flowers and plants. Painting is in good condition overall, minor aging on reverse of canvas. Frame is gilt wood, with some loss and darkening (soot?). Painting was in fire, though painting itself was not damaged. 17 1/2" wide by 39 1/2" tall (opening), 18" wide by 40 1/2" tall (canvas), 26 1/2" wide by 48 3/4" tall by 2 1/4" deep (frame).
