A Grain Painted Pine 36-Drawer Chest
19th Century
Height 35 1/2 x width 55 x depth 15 1/2 inches.
With pencil inscription to side of one drawer, stating the chest was built in 1864 by S. Hamden (?) of Reading, MA and used at one point by Samuel W. Abbott. One Samuel Warren Abbott (1837-1904) was a Harvard Medical School graduate and military surgeon during the Civil War.

In overall fine and stable condition. Surface wear, scratches and losses to paint/finish throughout, particularly to top board.
