Red-painted Pine Chest with Drawer, America, first half of the 18th century. Solid pine thumb-molded top with applied molded cleats at edges opens on wrought iron hinges over well with lidded till at proper left, the rabbeted and nailed case containing single drawer at bottom above applied molding, all raised on turned bun feet in front and bracket feet at rear, brass escutcheons and bale handles with incised decoration appear to be original, later red-painted surface (repairs to drawer, split in proper left bun foot), 99cm wide, 48cm deep, 88cm high (39 1/4in wide, 19 1/4in deep, 35in high).
