Provenance: An Alpine, Alabama collection
Frederic Remington was an American painter, illustrator, and sculptor who specialized in depictions of the 'American Old West'. His work often depicts late nineteenth century types such as cowboys, Native Americans, and the US Calvary. He is known as the most prominent illustrator of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Many Western artists following him are described as part of the 'Remington School'. He is also sometimes referred to as the 'Father of Cowboy Sculpture'.
