Description

Title: Spotted Ice Fishing Lure Signed Tate

Provenance/Additional Info: A very nice ice fishing lure or decoy, signed Tate on the underside. Tin fins, tack eyes and a graceful curvature to the body. Spotted top of the fish on green paint with light orange underside. Lure is about 6 ¼” long and about an inch high. Very fine condition with 3 shallow bumps in the paint: one above and behind the left eye, a second on top near the tail, and another on the left side of the tail. I could not find any info on a carver named Tate, but I would date this decoy to the last quarter of the 20th century (c. 1985).
