Norman Rockwell's "Four Seasons" Signed Artist Proofs, Limited Edition
A set of four lithographs, each page measuring 19.25" x 20.5", Chicago, dated December 1974. Published by Circle Gallery Ltd., this limited edition set of Norman Rockwell's "Four Seasons" shows two friends during each season of the year (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) and is signed in pencil "Norman Rockwell" at the lower right. With a handwritten "A/P" at lower left. Each lithograph is separated by tissue and housed in a custom portfolio measuring 19.75" x 21". The set is complete with a title sheet and a sheet describing the limited edition lithographs, for a total of six pages. The custom portfolio is bound in a green-grey cloth and held together with a black ribbon. Black lettering to the front. The lithographs are slightly toned but each with a bold signature. The portfolio has a few small spots of discoloration and soiling, else fine.
Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) is best known for both his WWII illustrations and paintings which capture the culture of small-town America. Much of his work graced the covers of The Saturday Evening Post and Life magazine. His "Four Seasons" was his most popular calendar work, paying tribute to friendship and nature. The edition consisted of 200 numbered lithographs as well as 60 artist proofs, all signed in pencil by Rockwell.
