Description

Raymond Peynet
2 large figures/mannequins/advertising figures. Composite material, polychrome painted, textiles, wool. 1950s. H. 100 cm and 105 cm. Probably advertising figures.
In the 1950s, various international manufacturers (including the French company Technigom and the German Stegmühle Werkstätten in Döffingen) produced dolls in classic doll sizes based on designs by Peynet (Poupées Peynet). There were different subject areas (including representations of the French regions/departments with pairs of dolls in their regional costumes (Auvergne, Alsace, Brittany, Camargue, Provence, etc.). The present very rare and very large-format dolls could come from this context, but were not in Series but as individually made one-offs, presumably made for advertising purposes.
