Description
Circa late 19th century pier mirror with gilt and gesso trim. The cornice is elaborately carved with repeating Neoclassical style giltwood bands of layered acanthus leaves, egg-and-tongue trim, and dentil trim. The lower frieze over the mirror is embellished with a repeating gilt and gesso band of carved c-scrolls and paired calyx stem foliage framing three leaf palmettes. The mirror plate is framed by small bands of rosette trim and flanked on each side by two engaged Roman pilasters with Corinthian capitals and a repeating band of scrolled foliage and urn motif trim. The base repeats the same layered acanthus leaf band found on the cornice. Please note of wear consistent with antique age such as: gilt loss, minor wood loss, chips to the wood, chips to the gesso, and patina to the mirror plate. The mirror measures 69"W x 10"D x 88"H.
