AMERICAN LATE VICTORIAN CARVED MAHOGANY BOOKCASE, two-piece construction, featuring three glass-panel doors flanked by fluted columns, with 14 adjustable shelves, raised on feet with acanthus carvings. Retains likely original surface with warm color. Circa 1890. 73 3/8" H, 75 1/2" W, 17 3/4" D.
Provenance: Property from Nancy and the late Coleman Rice, Richmond, VA.
Catalogue Note: The present desk and bookcase was likely a part of the original furnishings at the Joshua Wilton House, built in 1888 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
