AMERICAN RUSTIC CAST-IRON GARDEN BENCH / SETTEE, cast in four sections, entirely of intertwined oak branches with acorns and leaves, raised on conforming trunk legs joined by entwined serpents. No manufacturer's mark located. Retains an old black-painted surface. Probably Janes, Beebe & Co., New York City, NY. Mid 19th century. 32" HOA, 51" W, 17 1/2" H seat.
Provenance: From the private collection of Sarah Donnelly, Esmont, VA.
Catalogue Note: A similar example, attributed to Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond, VA, is in the collection of the Valentine Museum.
