Southeast Asia, Cambodia or Northern Thailand, Khmer Empire (Angkor culture), ca. 12th to 13th century CE. A refined pottery vase boasting an elegant silhouette with a broad, flared rim, a slender, cylindrical neck, a sloped shoulder, and a bulbous body that tapers to a narrow leg and a tiered foot. Enveloped in a moss-hued, iron glaze, the ancient vessel is meticulously decorated with the shoulder showcasing a series of horizontal elevated bands and incised striations of undulating and lattice forms, while graduating horizontal registers embellish the lipped rim. Ceramics during this period were made on potter wheels which increased pottery production to meet the demand for these elegant vessels. Size: 7" Diameter x 13.1" H (17.8 cm x 33.3 cm)
