Description
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK REPOUSSE COIN SILVER CREAMER, baluster form with a double-scrolled handle, raised on a round foot with beaded edge, sides having chased, engraved, and repousse decoration featuring acanthus leaves, scrolls, and flowers, a vignette to each side with one of a greyhound dog holding a letter in its mouth that reads, "TO YOU", and the other side of a cow. Base impressed with "BALL, THOMPKINS & BLACK / [S]UCCESSORS TO / MARQUAND [&] Co. / NEW YORK", flanked by a "W.F" and an eagle mark. Total weight: 6.505 ozt. Ball, Tompkins & Black, New York City, NY (active 1839-1851). Second quarter 19th century. 4 1/4" HOA.
