Description
"The Battle for the Sunlight, A Modern Legend", by Arvia Mackaye, published by Adonis Press, New York, 1946.
Original hard cover, nice yellow colored endpapers, 4.3/4" x 6.3/4", 62 pages, very good/fine condition.
A Story involving Ghosts and Angels. Very poetical story about the death, angels and life after life. World War 2 era. The story of a scientist’s battle with his double in facing the sinister threat of atomic warfare.
Daughter of Percy, Arvia MacKaye was quite an artist and pioneer in her own right. She was among the early American anthroposophists living in Dornach when Rudolf Steiner was alive, and this while she was still a very young woman. Thus, her entire adult life was devoted to enlivening the world through anthroposophical spiritual science. This shows in her own art, and especially in her pioneering work for the practical arts in Waldorf education. Among many other accomplishments, she was a co-founder of the Hawthorne Valley "Farm School," and of the Adonis Press!
