1939 First Day of Issue 100th Anniversary of the Game of Baseball, Postmarked Jun 12, 1939, Cooperstown, N.Y. Signed by Ty Cobb, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Babe Ruth, George Sisler, Ford Frisk, J. Honus Wagner, Tris Speaker, Walter Johnson, Cy Young, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Eddie Collins, Connie Mack, William Harridge, Larry Lajoie and Clark Griffith. First day of issue with a one 3 cent stamp. Postmarked at Cooperstown, N.Y. on June 12, 1939. The cache illustration features a portrait of General Abner Doubleday and a diamond-shaped illustration featuring a batter, catcher, and umpire. The caption reads "Commemorating 100th Anniversary of the Game of Baseball." With four of the five from the 1936 Inaugural Class of Baseball's Hall of Fame and three out of eight from the 1937 Class, one from the 1938 Class, two from the 1939 Class, one from the 1946 Class, one from the 1970 Class and one from the 1972 Class.
