A Chinese Chestnut Ground Lady's Silk Coat. The chestnut ground worked in satin stitch, forbidden stitch, and Peking knot with sprays of orchids, pink peonies, chrysanthemums, and peaches displayed in baskets, finished with colorful black-ground brocade borders, the cream cuff bands embroidered with butterflies, infinity symbols and flowers. China. Late Qing Dynasty to early 20th Century. {Length 41 inches (104.1 cm); width: 57 inches (144.7 cm)}. Condition: Age related minor discoloration and thread losses in various areas.
