Raku ware is a type of Japanese pottery first made during the 1580s traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies, an unpretentious art form art highly desired by tea masters. In the American Raku process, a work is heated to a desired temperature, then removed from the kiln while hot. The piece is placed on a combustible material, usually newspaper, hay, pine needles or sawdust. The smoke and oxygen touching the surface creates the one-of-a-kind piece Signed Raku Pottery, Luxury Japanese Pottery, hand thrown ceramic Raku bowl, hand thrown ceramic Raku jug, collectibles, vintage Raku
