Description
Portrait of Isabelle Helene Rubens held by a leash, daughter of the artist, by Peter Paul Rubens, 1636, drawing, black, red, and white chalk on paper. Small mark 'R' at the lower right corner. A vintage exact facsimile of the drawing located in Musee du Louvre, Paris, unmarked, probably a museum's reproduction.
High quality fine reproduction, no litho-dots, photographic accuracy [looks like the original under magnifying glass], even the look of the original laid paper is reproduced. The plate is c.9.1/2" x 13" [23.6cm x 33cm], a little wear, very good condition. See photos.
Sir Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) was a Flemish artist and diplomat from the Duchy of Brabant in the Southern Netherlands. He is considered the most influential artist of the Flemish Baroque tradition. Rubens's highly charged compositions reference erudite aspects of classical and Christian history.
Isabella Helena Rubens [1635-1652], Daughter of Peter-Paul Rubens and Helene Fourment (1614-1673); Sister of Clara Johanna Rubens; Franciscus Rubens; Pieter Paul Rubens and Constance Albertine Rubens.
