Sarah Butcher's Framed Needlework Dated 1826, England
worked in multi-color silk thread on fine linen, varying motifs to include floral sprays and baskets, trees, and flower filled urns all placed in a symmetrical design, a cartouche held by angels identifying maker, "Sara Butcher / Aged 13 Years / 1826," bottom register with two-story house flanked by blooming trees and whimsical dog and deer, three sides within an undulating floral border, presented under glass in a painted and molded frame.
Sight size 18.5 x 12.75 in.; Frame size 23 x 17.25 in.
