Cadastral map covering the area from China Basin to Islais Creek Channel. Shows drainage, block and lot numbers, wharves, buildings, right of way for S.P. & W.P. railroads, etc. Oriented with north to left. "Sale to commence February 28th, 1871 at Platt Hall." "Lots colored red are offered for sale." OCLC locates four examples, at the California Historical Society, Saint Patrick's Seminary & University, the University of California Berkeley, and the California State Library-Sutro Library.

Grafton Tyler Brown is known as the first African-American lithographer and professional artist in California. Brown immigrated to California in the 1850s from Harrisburg, Penn., when he was 20 years old, and was trained in lithography at the firm of Kuchel & Dresel in San Francisco. He bought their firm in 1867 and renamed it G. T. Brown, Lithographers.
