Still Life Oil on Canvas "Peaches" by Ray Edward Goodbred (1929-2011, Charleston, South Carolina), who was a well known gifted artist and respected art teacher of New York and Charleston, SC. Wood Frame. In frame measures 17"x15"x2". Weight 3 pd 11 oz. Mr. Goodbred was born December 7, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Edward and Rose Goodbred. He studied at the Art Students League of N.Y. From 1948-1951, he studied with Robert Brackman and Ogden Pleissner. He also studied at the National School of Fine Arts. He taught at the Art Students League of New York, Gibbes Gallery Hasting School of Art in Charleston and at his own studio. He was a member of the Charleston Artists Guild for many years. among the many awards he has received are the Salmagundi Club, Knickerbocker Artists of America, the Saul Alexander, the Yasotuma, the Trump, the Pastel Society, Cammer Memorial, Macowin Tuttle and the SC Annual. His art work is in many public and private collections including the Pentagon, the Hibernian Society, the Medical University of SC, the Art Students League, the Gibbes Gallery, the Citadel, the College of Charleston, the Episcopal Diocese, Roper Hospital, the Country Club of Charleston and others.
