Description
Vintage American Artist Etching Dogs Puppies Esther Michelson Davis, SLR, titled "Weaned", 8 x 11" sheet size
Esther Michelson Davis, sculptor and painter, died Sunday at her home, 10 Park Avenue. She was 80 years old, and the widow of Harold M. Davis, who headed a printing and publishing company.
Mrs. Davis had studied with Chaim Gross, Norman Raeben, Bruno Lucchesi and Sol Swarz. She had won prizes in group shows at the New School. In 1954, her paintings and drawings at the New Gallery were described by Stuart Preston, an art critic at The New York Times, as “playful cubism” with “rich and attractive color.”
