American Artist Etching New York City Edward Howard Suydam Signed. possibly NY Public Library; done by Edward H Suydam; date 1931; 12 x 9, 18 x 15" framed.
A book illustrator, etcher, and painter, Edward Suydam also did pencil drawings. He was born in New Jersey and studied with Thornton Oakley at the School of Industrial Art in Philadelphia in 1900. He spent most of his life in that city and New York City, but during the 1940s, spent much time in California where he illustrated books about the state including "Los Angeles, City of Dreams" and "San Francisco, A Pageant".
