Item Details
Description
1985 G & L Broadcaster, Leo Fender signed. WEIGHT: 8lb 9.8ozs (3kg/900g). COLOR: Black polyurethane finish. The Broadcaster is the most famous of the rare models manufactured by G&L. Introduced in mid-1985 and produced through March 1986 with a total production run of a limited 869 guitars. G&L was forced to change its name due to the name Broadcaster which was owned by Gretsch. This Tele style model Broadcaster has been played and used well. There are scratches, dings, some dents, and imperfections. The guitar is still in good vintage condition for being 38 years old. Guitar is 100% original, no modifications. Body is made of solid maple. Single ply black pickguard. The pickups are two, G&L magnetic field design single coil with adjustable pole pieces. Pot codes are stamped 1378416 and 1378419 denoting the CTS Co., made on the 16th and 19th week of 1984. Original 3-way switch. Inside of the neck cavity is sticker with handwritten SERIAL NUMBER: BC00547, handwritten date of 8-23-85 and Leo Fenders hand signature. This is not a print, as Leo had inspected and signed each of the 869 guitars produced. The neck is in pretty good condition. Very nice maple with an ebony fingerboard and pearloid dot markers. A few scratches and nicks. Stamped neck date of AUG 15, 1985, down at the butt. The frets do have some wear, maybe 40% worn, still has most of the life left in them. Neck has a 7.25 radius, medium U shape profile. Tuners are G&L Schaller, sealed, black chrome. The guitar plays incredible, nice, and smooth. This very rare guitar comes with its original G&L case with brown plush interior. Yes, Broadcaster cases came with either black or brown plush interior, although most have the black which makes this case quite rare. Truly a very nice piece of history from Leo Fender. Would make an excellent addition to any collection, shop, or home. As always please see all photos for more detail. All items are looked over but not inspected further than with the naked eye.
