Description
Martele in design with French grey finish. A gift to J.G. Metcalfe, General manager of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Magnificent monumental punch bowl with scalloped rolled border with embossed grape vine. Hand chased pedestal footed base with artistically inset stag horns and matching ladle. Custom, one of a kind, artistic, dignified and rich in design. (6) matching cups. This was recorded in the Courier- Journal Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, October 9th, 1900, Pg. 6. Printed on May 21st, 2014. The bowl bears the inscription J.G. Metcalfe "From his friends of the L&N." This design was exclusively hand crafted by the Gorham Foundry specifically for this gift. It is truly a magnificent piece of history, rarity, and design. Total gross weigh- 242.89ozt (includes punch bowl, horns, ladle, and cups) Sterling punch bowl- 17dia x 11.5h (with horns- 23w x 22d x 14h), Cups- 3dia x 2.75h, ladle 20" long
