German M1940 apparently repurposed for other uses, most likely during the war. An attachment meant to accommodate a handle has been riveted to one side, and the helmet rivets themselves have been drilled-out and plugged with additional watertight rivets, leading us to believe that the helmut was used to transfer liquids...or worse, possibly put to use to empty latrines, etc. Handle or pole not present, scattered rust, still good condition and ready to be used for the 'purpose' of your choice.
